One “Dark Souls 3” fans on NeoGAF even took the precaution of making a dummy account for those who do not want to get their main account banned. The account should be set t Japan, after which the player can buy Xbox credit in yen. The Microsoft store should also be set to the Japan region. After buying the game, the player is required to input a Japanese address, but using the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo appeared to work for the player. From, players can re-set the Xbox to the region of their choice and download the game.

As far Microsoft legal issues, Kotaku appears to have inquired about possible banning of Microsoft accounts following the steps above. The source did mention that Microsoft is not interested in rolling out bans for this issue.

Of course, it’s still up to the player to get the game early on. “Dark Souls 3” will release outside Japan come April 12, which is a little less than two weeks. Still, this is a good option for fans who are just raring to go play.

Those who were able to play the game on Xbox One had reported that the game runs at 900p. VG 247 reported that the “Dark Souls 3” copy was obtained via the method listed above. It runs at a native 900p compared to the 1080p for the PS4 version. Another issue that was seen in the game was stuttering, which forced dips below 30FPS. As far as performance is concerned, however, it seems that the Xbox One and PS4 will be at roughly the same level when released.

For now, players who don’t want to try the Xbox One region trick, there is a Japanese launch trailer already out. This can be seen below.
