Season two of the Netflix show “Daredevil” will bring in the Punisher as one of its new characters. Jon Bernthal, who has been cast for the role, recently teased what fans should expect to see from the vigilante Frank Castle in the series.

Jon Bernthal has been doing a lot of research lately for his role as The Punisher in “Daredevil” Season 2. Part of the actor’s preparation involves going to comic shops in Ventura to get some inspiration for his character portrayal. Bernthal took to his Twitter page to share a photo of him holding the comic book “Punisher: War Zone-The Resurrection of Ma Gnucci.” He captioned the image, “The truth.” According to Comic Book Movie, the book tells the story of Frank Castle’s attempts to get rid of the Gnucci family once and for all.

Apparently, the former “The Walking Dead” star has also hit up the comic book racks in Ventura’s Hypnocomics shop. In this photo shared on the shop’s official Instagram page, Jon Bernthal could be seen holding “Punisher MAX.” The 2010 issue tells Frank Castle’s time alone in prison as he contemplates about his family and about his life as a vigilante. Hypnocomics captioned the image, “Jon Bernthal liked the stuff I gave him to read, hooked up again today. He's doing his work! It feels good to know I'm helping my favorite Superhero show in some small way.”

It remains unknown which version of Frank Castle’s story Jon Bernthal will bring to “Daredevil” Season 2. The actor also took with him the “Punisher: Circle of Blood,” which reportedly tells the story of the vigilante meeting the “Punishment Squad.” The 1986 story also tells about the massive gang war that took place after Castle lied about Kingpin.

It’s uncertain whether all these comic books are just reading materials for Jon Bernthal or something fans can expect to see from “Daredevil” Season 2. The actor has so far remained mum about his role in the series. When asked for details about his character in an interview with ABC News, Bernthal only said, “it's just a huge honor to play the part and that's all I can say about that.”
