Fan favourite Cyrus Villanueva landed a spot in “X-Factor Australia” season 7’s top 5 list, following his powerful performance during Monday’s live show. The judges were impressed with the Filipino-Australia aspiring singer, with James Blunt commenting that he caught the “Cyrus virus.”

Villanueva was declared safe during Tuesday’s live decider show, according to Zeibiz. The 19 year old singer garnered enough votes to keep him off the bottom two list. Villanueva joins other “X-Factor Australia” season 7 contenders who made it to the top 5 such as Louise Adams, Jess and Matt, Big T and Mahalia Simpson.

During Monday’s live show, “X-Factor Australia” judges Dannii Minogue, James Blunt, Chris Isaak and Guy Sebastian gave Villanueva a standing ovation after he sang Bob Dylan’s “Knocking on Heaven's Door.” Villanueva clearly slayed his Bob Dylan cover, which was a song choice from judge Sebastian.

“X-Factor Australia” judge Blunt even teased Villanueva saying that he caught the “Cyrus virus” given his impressive performance, Rappler reported. Blunt also praised the aspiring singer for his vocal talent and said, “Cyrus, the question is not what can you sing but what can’t you sing.”

Even judge Minogue had high praises for Villanueva, who told the singer after his Monday performance, he keeps on “nailing it week after week.” She added, “Sometimes, this show just captures people in their prime and all the stars align."

Fans of “X-Factor Australia” also took to social media to share that they also caught the “Cyrus virus.” In the reality singing competition’s official Twitter account, fans agreed with Blunt’s assessment and mentioned how they are also suffering from the same condition. Twitter user Sue Sue wrote that she had the “Cyrus virus” “from day 1” while Twitter user Glynis Desroches stated, “I caught the same virus... CyrusVirus.”

Meanwhile, other fans also took notice of Villanueva’s impressive rendition of Bob Dylan’s song. On “X-Factor Australia’s” Twitter account, fans were amazed with the Filipino-Australian’s performance. Twitter user Rina Intal wrote, “@thexfactor_au @cyrusvill is definitely on a different league. His heartfelt rendition of this song is truly astounding.”

Twitter user Madila Ly was also touched with the aspiring singer’s talent and described Villanueva’s “every performance [as a] miracle with such an amazing voice.” She continued, “[You] took us to another world [with your] emotional act.”

The next episode of “X-Factor Australia” season 7 airs on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
