Adelaide hospitals continue to suffer from overcrowding and failed to accommodate the number of patients. Because of this, ambulances were used as extensions where people stay before they are transferred to another hospital.

It was reported that 8 ambulances were parked and left waiting outside Flinders Medical Centre on Monday. People with serious and severe medical conditions could not be effectively dealt by ambulance staffs since they were trained on a different level.

"The young woman who was having a miscarriage in an ambulance for two hours outside Flinders before being sent to another hospital," says Phil Palmer, the Ambulance Employees Association secretary. "I mean that's an outrage. No human being should have to go through that in a very emotionally distressing time.”

The Ambulance Employees Association also claims that this situation is not a surprise for everyone. It has been predicted that hospitals cannot accommodate too many patients. The need for more wards was addressed but was not able to make some progress.

Meetings were held with the Department of Health heads and there are plans and actions designed for this problem. At the same time, the emergency department will be back in assisting emergency cases as soon as possible according to Palmer.

The Importance of Ambulance Services

Ambulance is used for emergency purposes. Therefore, they are among the most essential tool in maintaining health and saving lives.
Compared to different hospital staffs, the ambulance team must be twice as quicker and should be fast enough to assist victims and patients. They were trained like soldiers and should always be armed for battle.

Ambulance is a huge help in transporting dying people to hospitals where they can get more treatment. Victims of heart attack, stroke, and other serious diseases that require immediate treatment or surgery benefit from this type of service.

Aside from that, the ambulance team also serves as a rescue time in emergency situations. They help in assisting victims of natural calamities like flood, land slide, earthquake, and tsunami.

Therefore, ambulance services should never be delayed in order to save more lives and to assist more people.
