On Wednesday, the Golden Boots for 2013-2014 is set to be awarded in a ceremony in Barcelona by the European Sports Media Association. The award will be shared by Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez but Ronaldo refused to receive the award at the same ceremony as Suarez, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

Ronaldo and Suarez will both receive the award for being top goal scorers in Europe last season. Ronaldo's 31 goals in La Liga for Real Madrid was matched by Suarez in the Premier League for Liverpool. The Uruguayan's haul enabled him to beat the previous record for one season at Liverpool, beating the 28 goals of Robbie Fowler in 1995-1996.

Suarez is set to receive his award on Wednesday alone, while Ronaldo is to pick up his in a separate ceremony in November. Last season, there were talks of celebrating the scoring exploits of the two football superstars in a joint event but these were dashed by the camp of the Real Madrid star.

Suarez managed to fly in his former boss at Liverpool, Kenny Dalglish to give him the award in the ceremony after winning his 31 goals last season. According to the Guardian, Suarez hoped that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard would be able to join him at the event but he was unable to travel. The Golden Boot award that Ronaldo is about to receive is his third like Lionel Messi while Suarez, on the other hand has never won the award before.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes denied that Ronaldo is unhappy at Real Madrid amid the reports that Manchester United is interested to take the football star back. "Cristiano is very happy at Real Madrid and has always been very happy. He's going to break all the records with Real Madrid and he's going to retire here," Mendes said according to the Guardian. He further added that Ronaldo's dream is to win another Champions League and it is impossible to find anyone like him in the history of sports.
