A couple from Newcastle upon Tyne decided to lose their escalating weights after the husband accidentally flattened a chair at a barbeque. The remarkable results after a couple of years turned their lives around.

Chris Coulter and Lesley Hutchinson recently won "Slimmers Of The Year" award for losing a total of 22 stones between them. The humiliation of breaking a chair publicaly in 2010 forced them to include weight loss in their bucket list of things. During the accident, splinters from the wood caused Chris leg injury, after which he was recommended by his physician in 2011 to join Slimming World.

“My leg was in a real mess and it was getting to the point where they didn't know what else to do, I started to worry that I might actually lose my leg. I knew I had to do something about my weight. I was embarrassed and worried because I thought I'd be the only man in a roomful of women, so Lesley agreed to come with me,” shared Chris, reported The Mirror.

Fifty-one-year-old Chris weighed 29st 5lbs and Lesley weighed 15st 4lbs at the time when they both decided to lose weight. After following the food optimisation plan by the weight loss organisation, Chris lost almost 17st 2 lbs, while Lesley's dress size dropped from 22 to 12. She now comfortably wears her pair of jeans purchased 20 years ago.

The trimmed-figure couple was crowned as the World's Slimming Couple of the Year 2015.

"A whole new world has opened up for us. Before we lost weight we didn't have a life, we just sat around the house. We didn't really go anywhere or do anything, we didn't enjoy ourselves. Now things are completely different," said Lesley, reported The Mirror.
