A Danish travel holiday company, Spies, has hit upon a unique marketing pitch that will not only shore up its sales but might hopefully reverse the current diminishing population problem in Denmark. The marketing approach is based on statistics that young, marriageable age Danish are not so keen on the reproduction aspect of life.

Because of this, the travel company asks parents (who are dreaming to be grandparents) to buy their mature children sexy holidays. The campaign called, ‘Do it for Mom’ was launched with the idea that by going on an active holiday in a sunny place, people will have increased sex drives and the fertility issues will be answered. Once the campaign succeeds, the parents will finally have their dream grandchild and Denmark will somehow have an answer to its low birth rate.

To assure the success of their tongue-in-cheek promotion, Spies, which is a part of the Thomas Cook Group, has thrown in a couple of incentives for their clients. If the holiday is being paid for by a parent for a child or even if the parent is only donating part of the cost, they get a 1000 Danish kroner (£100) discount. The first 100 couple who take their parents’ offer and book the holiday will receive an ‘activity package’ guaranteed to fuel al their baby-making activity.

Last year a similar campaign dubbed, ‘Do it for Denmark’ has turned out quite a success so they are doubling their efforts by enlisting the help of elderly mothers. ‘If they won’t do it for their country, I’m sure they will do it for their moms,” a Spies Travel representative commented.
