Don Patrizio Poggi, a convicted paedophile priest, has opened yet another Pandora's box in the mysterious realms of the secular Roman Catholic faith. Mr Poggi alleged the Vatican keeps a gay prostitution ring that rents underage boys for sex.

Italian investigators were immediately on the pounce to probe the latest batch of sexual innuendo allegations against the church led by Pope Francis.

Convicted Paedophile Priest – Vatican Has Gay Prostitution Ring, Rents Underage Boys For Sex

The 46-year-old Mr Poggi, who has already served a five-year jail time sentence for abusing teenage boys at his San Filippo Neri parish in Rome, said the alleged alliances was made possible with an outside contact, a former Carabinieri police officer who was the one recruiting the underage boys to be offered to at least nine clergymen within the Holy Roman Church.

According to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, the boys, mostly eastern European immigrant youngsters, were chosen because they were deperate and starving. The former police officer, known as Twink, allegedly picked them up from from gay discos, saunas and outside a bar near Rome's central rail station.

"I decided to file this complaint and cooperate with the law after long reflection and after a painful history of abuse and misuse of power that I have overcome thanks to the faith that guides me," Mr Poggi told the police.

Although Italian police authorities have yet to make any remarks on the allegations, Il Messaggero surmised they were giving the new leads serious thought because at the time Mr Poggi filed the complaint, he was accompanied by Monsignor Luca Lorusso.

"His allegations gained some credibility from the fact he was accompanied by Monsignor Luca Lorusso, an adviser to the Papal Nuncio to Italy, who is himself a confidante of Pope Francis," Il Messaggero wrote.

Mr Poggi has reportedly listed down 20 names of alleged child abusers in the Roman clergy to the authorities, including four serving priests and a monsignor.

As expected, Cardinal Agostino Vallini, head of the Catholic Vicariate of Rome, denied the allegations, saying Mr Poggi was only out to make a revenge against the secular institution.
