"The Conjuring" 2 release date has been reportedly pushed back from 2015 to 2016. The reason for the delay of the much-anticipated horror sequel is said to be James Wan's commitment to "Fast & Furious 7," though it is still not confirmed whether he would be returning for the film or not.

Wan is currently busy with "Fast & Furious 7," which is probably why Warner Bros has decided to push back the release date of "The Conjuring 2" and keep the 2015 slot for other horror films, Hit Fix reports. The film which could see the light of day in 2015 instead includes "Crawlspace" starring Michael Vartan and the witch-themed horror film "Superstition."

"The Conjuring 2" would see its main leads Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as paranormal investigators. The film would be based on poltergeists and would feature the screenplay by Chad and Carey Hayes, according to further reports.

"The Conjuring" was a major box office success and the same box office performance is expected from the sequel. Recently, a spinoff of the film, "Annabelle," was released. The film was met with a warm audience response, which paved way for its sequel plans according to Fashion & Style.

Meanwhile, James Wan who is currently busy with the post production of "Fast & Furious 7" said in one of his interviews that the action film is toughest film he has shot till date. He even said that the audience would be surprised with the film. In regard to the plot details of "Fast 7" it is being said that it has been inspired from Wan's previous film "Death Sentence" and both the films would have a strong link. The film may also see Kevin Bacon as the guest star.

"Kevin Bacon's character from Death Sentence could be in it. How big his role might be is unknown, but we can probably expect a cameo," said Wan in an interview as per report by Inquisitr.

"Fast & Furious 7" is slated to release in April 2015. The cast of the film includes Paul as Brian O'Connor, Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Dawyne Johnson as Luke Hobbs, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Statham as Ian Shaw, and Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto.
