British alternative rock band Coldplay performed in Australia and New Zealand in December after a series of shows all over the world. The performances are a part of their “A Head Full of Dreams Tour,” which started on March 31 in Argentina and is likely to come to an end in 2017. The tour is named after their seventh album.

Coldplay was formed by singer Chris Martin and was later joined by lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion. The band got its official name in 1998 after performing under the names of Pectoralz and Starfish.

Australia and New Zealand formed the Oceania leg of the band’s “A Head Full of Dreams Tour.” On Dec. 3, the band performed at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand. Coldplay’s last performance in New Zealand was in 2012.

On Dec. 6, the band reached Brisbane to perform at the Suncorp Stadium. According to The Courier Mail, lead vocalist Chris Martin said during the performance, “This is gonna be the best night of our lives and we’re gonna give it all we’ve got, and all we ask is for you to do the same.”

They were performing on an extremely hot day. When “Fix You” started, Martin was lying flat on the stage. More than 50,000 people attended the show and witnessed a spectacular performance by the international band.

The “Yellow” fame band performed at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne for two consecutive days, Dec. 9 and 10. Coldplay was joined by Melbourne singer Emmanuel Kelly and they performed a cover of John Lennon’s "Imagine." There was a fun moment when a fan proposed to his girlfriend on stage with a little help from Martin.

The final two performances of the Oceania leg took place at Allianz Stadium in Sydney on Dec. 13 and 14. The Sydney Morning Herald review of the show read, “Coldplay go big, very big, but just on the right side of huge.” Chris Martin held the Australian and Aboriginal flag high and later draped it across the head.

oldplay is all set to continue with the Asian, European and American legs in the coming year as a part of its “A Head Full of Dreams Tour.”
