Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has opened up about his life after his divorce from actress Gwyneth Paltrow. The vocalist explained how he coped up with his situation and moved on with his life.

In an interview with Australian radio show “Rove and Sam” on Monday, Martin said it’s his fault why he and Paltrow “consciously uncoupled” more than a year ago. “A few years ago, I was in a low place in my life and was feeling kind of down and confused about everything,” the singer said.

He, however, found a way to clear his mind through a book called “Man’s Search for Meaning” by Victor Frankel and a poem called “The Guest House” by Rumi. Martin said the book and the poem were given by some of his friends.

“...and those two things [book and poem] started me off on this whole journey that's ended up a few years later now where I just feel so happy to be alive,” the singer said.

Martin added that he “suddenly feel very grateful” to be alive and enjoy the things that come with it.

Meanwhile, Paltrow told Marie Claire earlier this year that she and Martin remain as friends since their separation. The two live close to each other’s house in Los Angeles and were reportedly celebrating Thanksgiving together with their kids.

“We've worked really fucking hard to get to [this] point. But we're very, very close, and it's so nice. I feel like it's, in a way, the relationship we were meant to have,” she said.

In June, the former couple was spotted together on a casual lunch date in Montauk. A source told ABC News that Paltrow and Martin seemed relaxed and enjoying each other’s company.

After being married for 12 years, Martin, 38 and Paltrow, 43 announced their split through the actress’ blog “Goop” in March 2014. The two met in 2002 when Paltrow’s father died. They are now parents to two kids, Apple Martin, 11 and Moses Martin, 9.
