Several new coffee trends are bound to be picked up by cafes around the world in 2015. As people become more health-conscious and meticulous about their beans, coffee shops are also trying to cater to the new demand by showcasing new ingredients and menu items.

Here are some coffee trends to know about in 2015.

1. Butter coffee. Healthy fats are becoming a part of people’s diets nowadays, so one coffee trend involves adding coconut oil to your favorite brew to make it more nutritious and provide long-lasting energy. The approach is called butter coffee and has been well-received by customers, based on a report by Coffee Blocks.

2. Smaller sizes. Consumers today are opting for stronger brews instead of giant cups that contain a lot of calories. Cafes are introducing smaller drink sizes of only six to 10 ounces, compared to the usual 16 ounces. People are aiming to consume less and simpler brews to avoid unnecessary calories.

3. Coffee pods. Instead of simple coffee stick powders and custard creams, hotels and other places might offer coffee pods for guests to provide them good quality brews throughout their stay. People are becoming more aware of the different beans and are opting for full brews over instant mixes so establishments will have to be more competent by providing the right devices to satisfy the demand, based on a report by Refreshments Systems.

4. Diet coffee. Similar to the butter coffee approach, people are looking for special coffee that will provide them with energy, mental focus, enhanced metabolism and low calories. There are a number of companies that started coffee trends in 2015 by showcasing products that particularly aid people lose weight and maintain a fit figure. These products are also a good source of antioxidants which help relieve stress and prevent chronic illnesses.

Some coffee experts also expect coffee to decline in 2015, as more people begin opting for tea because of its weight loss and antioxidant properties, minus the usual side effects that coffee pose. Coffee enthusiasts, however, will continue to enjoy new types of brews and take advantage of the new trends to achieve their health goals throughout the year.
