The Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies will head into their Monday night’s (Tuesday AEDT) matchup with plenty of beef.

Following the Grizzlies 50-point loss over the streaking hot Golden State Warriors, the Clippers official Twitter account posted a message hitting at the Memphis lopsided defeat from the defending champs, leaving the Memphis players fueled to prove they can be one of the best in a stacked Western Conference.

"I take it with a grain of salt. I ain’t with all that talking and Instagraming and tweeting and bluffing,” Grizzlies power forward Zach Randolph told Memphis Commercial Appeal. “You got to prove it on the court."

The Clippers also lost to the Warriors, although it was just a marginal defeat with All-Star point guard Chris Paul sitting out the last period due to a groin injury. But both teams are on a losing slump, with the Clippers losing another tight game against the Houston Rockets and the Grizzlies bowing out against the Utah Jazz.

Paul is doubtful to play against the Grizzlies after sitting out in their 109-105 loss against the Rockets. Coach Doc Rivers said brushed off the notion that Paul’s absence has been affecting Los Angeles’ winning ways.

"I didn't think we were very organized. I didn't think we executed very well," coach Doc Rivers said, reports Yahoo Sports. "A lot of that was not the point guard, it was just the way we played."

With Paul doubtful for the visiting Grizzlies, Blake Griffin is expected to lead the charge for Rivers’ side. Griffin has been off to a hot start for the Clippers, scoring 29.3 points per game on 59.8 percent shooting. But in his last four meeting with Memphis, Griffin has only averaged 35.1 percent from the field.

Austin Rivers, who scored 10 points against the Rockets, would most likely start for the Clippers just as he did in Houston. But Rivers’ 38.1 percent shooting is certainly a downgrade compared to Paul’s 46.2.

Grizzlies, on the other hand, are well beyond their expected outcome early in the season. They have now lost four of their seven games into the 2015-2016 NBA regular season, including back-to-back defeats against the Jazz and the Portland Trailblazers.

According to ESPN, Memphis has been demonstrating their worse marks since the 2009-2010 season with 101.7 points and 47.0 percent shooting allowed to the opposing team. But despite the early struggles, coach Dave Joerger, who was the subject of a coaching change amid the team’s poor start, is confident the Grizzlies is starting to perform better.
