Last week, Supercell revealed the new hero, the Grand Warden coming to the massive update of “Clash of Clans,” but the hero’s attack mode was only detailed. Much like the Barbarian King and Archer Queen, the Grand Warden can also go on defense mode when opposing clans attack the player.

Supercell already detailed how useful the Grand Warden is when players attack other bases. His auras assure that the player’s troops are heavily defensed and durable. During defense mode however, the Grand Warden still proves to be a useful unit when players with massive armies come charging in, Touch Arcade reports.

The video seen below showcase how the Grand Warden’s defense mode can prove useful for players. During defense, the Grand Warden isn’t as active as the Barbarian King or Archer Queen, as he turns into a statue when players attack. Basically, he becomes a defense structure; a durable defense structure at that.

The Grand Warden retains most of his skills during his defense mode. When he becomes a statue, he retains the same aura that makes units more durable. As a statue, all defending units including other heroes and clan castle troops will become harder to kill. What’s even better about the Grand Warden is that he can also roam around the field like the other two heroes. His attack range is considerably long so he can take out units from afar.

The Grand Warden looks to be a good addition to the game. Basically, he adds more balance when the massive update hits. With new and improved units, structures and more, the Grand Warden would do well in making sure that the players get a level playing field both when defending and attacking.

The massive update is scheduled to hit anytime this month. Among the other changes in the update is a bigger map area, a revamped looting system and more.
