Emma Watson of the "Harry Potter" films is currently considered as the actress who could portray the lead character in the upcoming Disney film "Cinderella" alongside critically-acclaimed Australian actress Cate Blanchett. The movie adaptation is expected to have the same classic storyline that most people grew up with.

Variety reports Cate Blanchett has already agreed and signed up to be cast in Disney's "Cinderella" with Kenneth Branagh as the film director. The 43-year-old "Lord of the Rings" star will portray the cruel stepmother who makes Cinderella's life full of misery and suffering.

Writer Chris Weitz, who is best known for his work on the film "About a Boy," will provide the movie script for "Cinderella."

For the Cinderella role, British actress Emma Watson is currently in talks to accept Disney's offer on the lead female character. "Disney would like to slip the glass slipper onto Emma Watson as the star of Cinderella," Variety further reported.

Disney has not yet disclosed the details on Emma Watson's possible casting in the "Cinderella" film. The studio is still considering other potential actresses for the upcoming film's lead role such as Gabriella Wilde of "The Three Musketeers," Saoirse Ronan of "The Lovely Bones" and Alicia Vikander of "Anna Karenina."

Due to conflicts on work schedules as well as other production issues, Disney is still faced with casting problems since the studio has not yet perfectly slipped the glass slipper to the rightful actress who will take Cinderella role.

The 22-year-old "Harry Potter" actress has not confirmed or denied the casting news for the upcoming "Cinderella" film. In the mean time, fans can watch Emma Watson in action with the Sofia Coppola film titled "Bling Ring" which tells the story about a gang of teenagers who robbed the houses of famous stars like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.
