Chris Pine has reportedly been offered to play as the new Green Lantern and as Steve Trevor. While there’s been no confirmation yet which among the two superhero roles the actor will choose, a report claimed Chris favours Green Lantern.

A source close to the actor told Devin Faraci from Birth.Movies.Death that Chris Pine is up to play as Hal Jordan a.k.a. Green Lantern. It’s believed the actor favours the character since he gets to have his solo film in 2020 rather than appear as a guest in another DC film. However, per Cinema Blend it’s likely that Green Lantern will make his first appearance in the “Justice League” films.

Faraci’s source also confirmed those old rumours that Chris Pine was also offered the role of Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman’s love interest. However, there’s been no official word yet from Warner Bros. about the actor’s possible character in the DC Cinematic Universe.

“As of end of business Thursday, Pine hadn't officially signed on to anything - despite Warner Bros wanting him to come out on stage at Comic Con this weekend,” Faraci said.

In the DC comics, Hal Jordan became the Green Lantern after he acquired a magical ring that grants him superpowers. The comic book character’s story was once adapted in a live-action film in 2011. Ryan Reynolds had been cast as Green Lantern. The actor’s fan-base however did not help with the film’s overall rating. According to Cinema Blend, the movie did not receive good reviews. The actor has also declined to star in a "Green Lantern" sequel or even a reboot, according to Cosmic Book News.

Whether Ryan Reynolds' role has been turned over to Chris Pine is still uncertain. The “Star Trek” star has long been linked with Steve Trevor. Scott Eastwood was initially rumoured to play Steve Trevor and that he’ll debut the character in David Ayer’s film “Suicide Squad.” However, sources have confirmed with Variety back in April that the actor is not playing Wonder Woman’s love interest. At that moment, there were reportedly four actors who have tested for the role. But there was no news if Chris Pine was one among the contenders.
