Chris Hemsworth, who has one of the most sought-after bodies in Hollywood, did not get his bulked-up Thor looks in just one day. His personal trainer Luke Zocchi has revealed what it takes to get that kind of figure. Fans of the superhero will be amazed to know that Hemsworth starts his preparation before he starts shooting for the movie, and that he takes his diets and workouts seriously.

“We probably start about three months prior to shooting. So that’s when we do our hard work. So basically, when we’re shooting, it’s just about maintaining it,” Zocchi told KIIS 101.1’s Matt and Meshel in the Morning, news.com.au reports.

The 33-year-old is ready to pack his bags and leave for Atlanta to shoot his upcoming movie. According to the latest pictures posted by his trainer on Instagram, Hemsworth is completely ready for any superhero role as far as his body is concerned. So what exactly is his workout regime?

The actor trains once or twice a day, said Zocchi. They follow the traditional approach to body-building, which prioritises strength training over cardio. Hemsworth maximises his muscle strength with various forms of weight training and does not indulge in any form of cardiovascular exercises like running on the treadmill or cycling. He credits the “old-school body-building” formulas, but they are careful of not over-indulging in exercise. They never train for “over an hour at a time.”

Zocchi also revealed that Hemsworth focused more on his upper body exercises for his arms, back and chest rather than his legs, because his role in “Thor: Ragnarok” demanded him to have a bulky upper body. “Funny story actually, when we did the fitting for Thor 3 we saw the costume and it was just sleeves and he’s like, ‘Alright we’re doing arms and shoulders now — that’s all I wanna do,'” he said.

The Melbourne-born actor recently posted a workout video on his Instagram that shows him doing a variety of exercises ranging from high-intensity interval training and core-strengthening techniques like push-ups and pull-ups. The video also has his trainer Zocchi encouraging him to push harder.

Zocchi also revealed that when it comes to diet, he makes sure Hemsworth eats clean and mostly protein diet. “It’s basically six meals a day of just clean proteins and vegetables. And he does still have a little bit of chocolate here and there, I won’t lie,” he said. Given his body needs of bulking up, Hemsworth is on a 3,500-calorie-plus per day diet.
