After winning his second Tour de France in three years, Chris Froome offered a friendly advice to Richie Porte, who has recently publicised his intentions to leave Team Sky after the 102nd edition of the Tour. The Aussie rider has been linked in a move to BMC Racing to fulfill his dream to be a Grand Tour leader of a team.

Froome, who has been consistently questioned for doping ever since killing the climb in the Tour’s 10th Stage, admitted he will miss Porte and advised the Australian cyclist to be more "consistent” in grand tours, according to Cycling Weekly. However, the 30-year-old Froome also heaped praises to Porte, describing the Aussie as a talented climber and one of the best riders in the peloton. Froome added Porte has the ability to ride the general classification in a grand tour.

“Probably in consistency. To be able to look at a three week race [you need] to roll with the bad days as well as the good days,” Froome said when asked about what Porte needs to improve his grand tour performances.

Porte has given Team Sky his all despite being ill and on antibiotics in the last 10 days of Tour de France. Porte confessed that the Stage 20 of the race was his last mountain stage with Sky, but was pleased to end his term with the racing team on a high note.

“It’s nice to leave this team on a high. I’ve made some life-long friends here and it’s just such a great way to finish it off,” Porte said as reported by Cycling News.

Porte served as super domestique in Froome’s 2013 and 2015 Tour de France title. The 30-year-old Porte was selected to Team Sky’s Tour de France squad as an important helper for Froome in the mountains. Porte had a strong showing during the first day in the 10th Stage of the race, but then fell ill and struggled mightily all throughout the remaining stages. Although Porte cannot officially sign for a new team until August 1, it has been expected he will join BMC Racing in 2016.
