Chris Brown opens up for the first time since he came out of jail. In his first interview given to the Billboard since his release, the singer claimed that the jail experience was quite humbling and he has now matured because of it.

In the interview, the 25-year-old star confessed that he was "too much out of control". Something "like this happened for a reason. There was a purpose," said the American recording artist and actor. "Maybe I was out of control too much. Or I needed something to humble me to the point where I get it," he added.

Brown is undoubtedly one of the most controversial personalities in the music world. When asked whether he wrote any song during his time behind bars, the singer claimed that his prison was not a place for creativity. However, he used to sketch a lot to pass the time.

The singer also claimed that his maturity level has risen considerably. He is now more appreciative of small things in his life, as well as his music, friends and family.

Chris Brown was released from the Los Angeles county jail on June 2, where he was detained since March after being expelled from the court-ordered rehab centre due to a series of violations he committed. His tryst with the law started with the infamous episode of domestic violence against Rihanna just before the Grammy Awards in 2009. This case was followed by his alleged involvement in a fight outside a hotel in Washington, D.C. in October 2013.

As reported by the Mirror, Brown had now spent 108 days behind bars for violating his parole. He is still on probation. Last week, he pleaded guilty in the case of allegedly punching another man outside a hotel in October 2013. He was ordered to rehab for his anger management issues. He has recently been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder and is also suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Brown was again caught in trouble when the hip hop mogul Suge Knight and two others were shot at a party he organized at Hollywood's 1OAK. All three victims are now out of danger, but it is rumoured that the shootout was actually aimed at Chris Brown.
