Previously undefeated New Yorker Chris Algieri favours Floyd Mayweather Jr. over Manny Pacquiao if the two pound-for-pound fighters face each other in the ring. However, Algieri has also expressed his doubt that the super fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather would really happen.

In an interview with Hit First Boxing, Algieri said that the eight-division Filipino world champion is not going to be able to beat Mayweather. Although Algieri was knocked down six times by Pacquiao when they clashed in Macau in November, he believes that the Filipino is not the one who will give Mayweather a defeat.

"Manny is a great fighter, but I don't think he is going to match up well with Floyd's particular style," Algieri said. In addition, Algieri said that the super fight is going to be an exciting and competitive fight. "I have got Floyd winning that fight, Manny would definitely make it somewhat interesting but I see Floyd taking that fight."

However, Algieri has uncertainties that the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will really happen. Negotiations may be underway, but Algieri highly doubts that it will ever come to fruition. Algieri said that both Pacquiao and Mayweather's camps haven't been able to reach a common middle ground since the said super fight was laid down on the table back in 2009. Algieri believes that the fact that the super fight hasn't happened is a good enough indication that the Pacquaio and Mayweather will not really fight each other.

Even HBO Sports Executive Seth Abraham has previously expressed his doubt on the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. While everyone gets caught up with the latest negotiations for the super fight, Abraham has said in a report by the New York Daily News that he wouldn't spend a minute thinking about it because he just knows that it will never take place.

According to Abraham all the talks involving Les Moonves and Bob Arum are just a ruse that was created in an effort to conceal what is really going on as far as the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight is concerned. Abraham claimed that Mayweather doesn't really want the fight because his main concern is to retire undefeated and be hailed as one of the greatest fighters in history.
