Jose Mourinho was bound for stardom after leading a meager Porto FC side to Champions League glory in 2004, but he could have gone elsewhere other than Chelsea, had it not been for Jorge Mendes.

History was made when the "Special One" met the "Special Agent," as the former Real Madrid boss disclosed in the biography entitled "The Special Agent - The key to Mendes, the secret of the biggest football agent in the world" that the now-renowned handler played the part of a bridge that would lead him to west London.

"There were three agents who wanted to represent me," said the 51-year-old.

"Then a fourth agent appeared who was Jorge Mendes."

"I said to them, 'The one who keeps me is the one who brings me Abramovich or takes me to him.'

"Two days later, Mendes rang: 'Abramovich is in Portugal and wants to see you.'

Mourinho further revealed that one of the said agents even employed a dirty tactic, which might have been perhaps out of desperation

"He told me he was with Abramovich in Paris. And there I was, with Abramovich in front of me," he added.

"Jorge had prove to me he wasn't lying."

Mourinho led the Blues to two Premier League crowns and an FA Cup, among others, during his first stint at the club. He has also won several domestic league titles while serving as overseer for Inter Milan and Real Madrid, topped by another top-tier European crown in 2010.

His love and passion for Chelsea led him back to Stamford Bridge in June 2013.
