Denise Richards, Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife, has been speculated of being HIV-positive as well after the actor candidly confirmed that he had tested positive on the virus. However, a source has come forward claiming that the actress is clear of the virus. Meanwhile, a representative of Brooke Mueller, Sheen's other ex-wife, has also confirmed that she is HIV-negative.

An insider believed to be a close friend of Richards told Access Hollywood in an exclusive interview that Sheen contracted HIV years after they finalised their divorce in November 2006. They reportedly have “not been intimate” with each other since the split, so it’s unlikely that Richards also has the virus.

In the exclusive interview, the unnamed source likewise said that their two daughters, Sam, 11 and Lola, 10, are also HIV-negative. However, Richards has reportedly known about Sheen’s HIV for years.

The source’s claims about Sheen’s HIV were also confirmed by the actor himself during his guest appearance on NBC’s “Today” show on Tuesday. The 50-year-old got candid during his interview with show host Matt Lauer as he recalled his mental and financial struggles at having to keep his HIV a secret for many years. However, he didn’t keep it a secret from Richards and his other ex-wife, Brooke Mueller.

In the video below, the former “Two and a Half Men” star tells Lauer that he had come clean about being HIV-positive with Richards and Mueller in 2011.

US Weekly reports that at that time, he was still married to Mueller, so he immediately asked her to be checked for the virus. Thankfully, Mueller and her two sons with Sheen, twins Bob and Max, 6, are HIV-negative. The actress’ representative Steve Honig confirmed this with US Weekly.

“Brooke has been inundated with calls from friends and family. To put their minds at ease, Brooke can confirm that she and the boys are not HIV positive,” Honig said in a statement sent to the publication.

In his interview on the “Today” show, Sheen likened the secrecy about his being HIV-positive to being in “prison.” Admitting to having the virus is reportedly his way of putting a stop to the “mirage of attacks of sub-truths and very harmful and mercurial stories” told about him.
