The "Dating Naked" reality show aired over VH1 is now on its third season which premiered on June 29. Britain’s version of the reality show, “Naked Attraction,” shown over Channel 4, attracted viewers complaints to Ofcom which is still evaluating if it would initiate a full probe into the show described by a critic as “Blind Date in a brothel.

Among the complaints are nudity, including prolonged close-up shots of male and female genitals and discussions about the sexual attributes of the contestants, reports The Telegraph. Ofcom received as of 10:30 pm on Tuesday 24 complaints about the show which premiered on July 25 and got 1.4 million viewers.

The show begins with a contestant picking a date with one of six contestants who are naked behind a glass box. The presenter and the participants tackle the merits of their body parts as their genitals are revealed bit by bit, until five are eliminated.

In defence of the show, Channel 4 says, the programme is a social experiment to “examine whether or not we can rely on our primal instincts to find a suitable partner.” To introduce the new show, the narrator notes that modern dating has turned into a complicated business, reports Mashable.

“Status symbols, online profiles and the clothes we wear can all get in the way of finding our perfect mate... but what would happen if we were stripped of all the things that usually define us?” asks the narrator.

Aired on Monday night, the hashtag #NakedAttraction became trending on Twitter. But the show was also heavily criticised.

Sarah McRetailface chides Channel 4 for “dumbing down television” to please the “idiot minority.” Other viewers find the show disgusting. Gerard O’Donovan, Telegraph critic, says “Naked Attraction” reduces human attraction to “a kind of game show meat market.”
