Celine Dion has been by her husband, René Angélil’s side ever since he started battling throat cancer, and she will remain there even through his final moments. The singer revealed that her husband’s wish is to “die in her arms.”

The singer turned emotional talking about her husband René during an interview with USA Today. She revealed that for the past months she and the 73-year old, who’s been battling cancer for two years, have had serious conversations about the future. Celine recalled how her husband of 21 years admitted feeling scared and asked to be in her arms when he dies, to which she replied, “OK, fine, I'll be there, you'll die in my arms."

René was diagnosed with throat cancer in December 2013, according to Hello Magazine. However, despite the number of hospital treatments his condition is not improving. Celine admitted that it sometimes pains her to see her husband’s condition knowing she can’t do anything to help with his pain. The singer said she learned two valuable things from René’s debilitating condition.

"You have two choices. You look at your husband who's very sick and you can't help, and it kills you. Or you look at your husband that's sick and you say, 'I got you. I got it. I'm here. It's going to be just fine,’” Dion said in the Hello Magazine report.

Celine also told the publication that she and her family are just waiting for that time when she can fulfill her husband’s dying wish. Doctors have reportedly not indicated how long René has to live. But she assured her husband that when that time comes she will take care of their children and he can watch them from “another spot.”

In her interview, the 47-year old also expressed her gratitude to her husband, calling him “the leader of the band.” If not for René then she wouldn’t have sold 220 million albums and made her the famous singer that she is today. Thus, Celine revealed she will still perform for her fans and do interviews to continue what her husband has started for her career.

“It (hacks) him off to not see me all day and over here working. But he wants me to do this, do the show, do the interviews. But he freaks when I'm not home with him, too," Dion told USA Today.
