Everyone was hyped when a Netflix animated series based on the classic video game “Castlevania” was going to launch. Fortunately, it delivered well on its debut. It was so good, it was instantly renewed for a second season.

Although most feedback was positive, some fans thought of it as an animated version of “Game of Thrones.” Of course, nobody can just brush aside how big “Game of Thrones” is, but it is surprising that “Castlevania” threw in an easter egg about the hit HBO series.

A Reddit user pointed out a scene in the pilot episode of “Castlevania” where Trevor Belmont is talking to villagers in a town devastated with attacks from Dracula and his minions. Later, one of the villagers, who seems to be a blacksmith, shows off a unique sword in his collection. This looks too familiar for anyone to miss, Gizmodo notes.

The sword looks like Longclaw, which is the one Commander Mormont handed to Jon Snow in the first season of “Game of Thrones.” The creation was just one of a kind. Aside from the fact that it's made from Valyrian steel, which makes it able to kill a White Walker, Mormont also had the hilt reshaped from a bear’s head to that of a wolf so it would be representative of Jon Snow’s house.

Of course, everyone likes “Game of Thrones.” Its effect on today’s TV shows cannot be denied as it has raised the bar on quality and execution and has largely contributed to what has been dubbed as “The Golden Age of TV.” In this case, it is not that surprising that “Castlevania” would pay tribute to “Game of Thrones” in many ways. Earlier, producer Adi Shankar revealed in an interview that the game has a “Game of Thrones” vibe, and that it is a perfect mix of medieval and fantasy.

Jon Snow had always been one of the more mysterious characters in “Game of Thrones,” and it is no surprise that “Castlevania” paid a small tribute to the character. Longclaw is also one good-looking and functional sword. If it is strong enough and built to take down the toughest of white walker, everyone can be assured it will be strong enough to take down Dracula when season two of “Castlevania” rolls out. The show appears on Netflix US and Netflix Australia.
