There is still uncertainty surrounding Stana Katic’s return to reprise her role as Kate Beckett in “Castle” Season 8, but that does not mean that the “Castle” writers have written a eulogy for her in Season 7 finale.

With status of Katic still up in the air, there have been speculations that her character might end up dead in “Castle” Season 7 finale. The co-writers of the final episode, Andrew Marlowe and Terri Edda Miller, have been quick to kill such speculations

Beckett’s death is “off the table,” Marlowe told US Weekly, as they have been “telling a love story for the last seven years.” Miller added: “I think that would be a huge betrayal of our fans.”

When Marlowe and Miller co-wrote the final episode, the future of “Castle” was shrouded in uncertainty -- ABC recently confirmed Season 8 -- and it was a challenge for them to write the season finale. According to reports, “Castle” Season 7 will have a non-traditional cliff-hanger.

Speaking about how the final episode is going to end, Marlowe said they wanted the fans to have “some sense of resolution and some sense of good feelings about the characters.” He said if it was the final season, as writers, they would have been satisfied with the way they have wrapped it up. And now that it has been renewed for another season, they are excited about the “storytelling possibilities where we end up and where Castle and Beckett go as a couple.”

Nathan Fillion, who plays the titular character on the show, has already signed on his new contract. And Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter are stepping in as the new showrunners, as David Amann is exiting “Castle” after serving as the showrunner for one season.

Meanwhile, the final episode of “Castle” Season 7, titled “Hollander’s Woods,” will be telling the story behind Rick Castle becoming the successful mystery writer. And a murder in the woods will trigger the memories of a terrifying event that took place when he was 11-years-old. Also Beckett faces a crossroads and will be seen making some interesting career choices.
