There is still uncertainty surrounding “Castle” Season 8, as ABC has yet to put to rest all the speculations about its cancellation. Also the newly-married Stana Katic, who plays the principal character of homicide Kate Beckett, has yet to sign on the new contract. This has added fuel to fans’ fear that “Castle” Season 7 might be the final season of the series.

Katic’s co-star Nathan Fillion, who plays best-selling writer Rick Castle, has signed on his new, one-year contract. According to some reports, this virtually confirms that there is likely to be “Castle” Season 8, but until and unless ABC does not confirm that, doubts would continue to overrule all the positive assumptions. All the original cast members, including Katic and Fillion, contracts are up for renewal after Season 7 wraps up. Except Fillion, rest of the cast members continue to negotiate the new deal with ABC Studios, producer of “Castle.”

Is Kate Beckett Dying In "Castle" Season 7 finale?

Even though Katic has still to sign on her new contract, there is no plan to kill her character in “Castle” Season 7 final episode. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, “Castle” creator Andrew Marlowe, who has co-written the final episode, put an end to rumours about Beckett and Castle dying in “Castle” Season 7 finale. He said that they have not written a “Grey’s Anatomy” kind of scenario in the final episode. “Grey’s Anatomy” recently killed a major character, Dr Derek Shepherd. And if there is "Castle" Season 8, all the major characters are returning.

“I think that we can say that if we were to come back next year, we would be coming back with all of our pieces intact,” Marlowe said. “It’s not a Grey’s Anatomy situation by any means.”

Meanwhile in an earlier interview, Marlowe has said that “Castle” Season 7 finale will not feature a traditional cliffhanger. The episode will see Castle recollecting a terrifying event of his childhood. It took place when he was 11-years-old. Also, the final episode is set to reveal why he became a mystery writer. And Beckett is going to face a crossroads because of her career. She will be seen making some interesting choices when it comes to her professional life.

“Castle” Season 7 finale is scheduled to air on Monday, May 11. This Monday, May 04, ABC will be airing the milestone 150th episode of the series.
