“Castle” Season 7 airs a new episode this Monday, May 4, on ABC. This penultimate episode of the season features pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen in a cameo role. Meanwhile, series star Stana Katic thanked fans on Twitter after about two weeks of silence. Katic dished nothing on Season 8, but tweeted about filming a movie.

Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) meets Carly Rae Jepsen, the “Call Me Maybe” singer, in “Castle” Season 7, episode 22. Jepsen is guesting as her celebrity self. She tweeted she was “stoked” to be in the ABC procedural dramedy. This week’s new episode is titled “Dead From New York.”

Castle wishes Jepsen to clarify something about “Call Me Maybe” in their brief exchange in “Castle” Season 7, episode 22. He does not get to finish his question, because Jepsen is called to perform on stage. Castle and Beckett (Stana Katic) then dance to her music.

Meanwhile, Stana Katic, who was quiet on Twitter for more than two weeks, thanked fans in a tweet for their well wishes on her wedding. (See her tweet below for the full message.) Katic did not elaborate on her wedding, nor did she drop any hints on “Castle” Season 8. She did, however, mention that she is filming in “a secret location.”

ABC ordered the “Castle” Season 7 renewal on May 8 a year ago. Season 6 was announced on May 10, 2013. History in mind, avid followers of the series are anticipating an announcement about “Castle” Season 8 this month. (UPDATE: ABC issued renewal notices for several shows, including "Castle" on Thursday, May 7.)

Series creator Andrew W. Marlowe, however, has said in media interviews that the “Castle” Season 7 finale was written so that it would be a good ending, whether or not ABC orders Season 8.

The actor portraying the titular character, Nathan Fillion, has signed on for “Castle” Season 8 in case it gets renewed. When Fillion tweeted about the last day of filming Season 7, he made it clear it was only the “last show of the season.” (See his tweet below.)

“Castle” Season 7, episode 22 ("Dead From New York") was written by Terence Paul Winter and directed by Jeannot Szwarc. The next new episode is the season ender written by Marlowe and Terri Edda Miller.
