Even celebrities aren’t spared from Internet hackers. Recently, Dane tennis star Caroline Wozniacki revealed that her account on the popular micro-blogging platform Twitter had been hacked.

Apparently, the hacker had sent a number of direct messages to fellow tennis star Eugenie Bouchard, asking how the Canadian is coping with her recovery. Bouchard later shared a snap of the hacker’s messages on Twitter and asked Wozniacki to stop “spamming” her.

The 25-year-old Dane, who was recently the recipient of the Diamond Aces Award, managed to recover her account. She came to her defence afterward and apologised through Twitter, saying that her account had been hacked.

One Twitter user remarked that the hacker must have been really “friendly and concerned” to send thoughtful messages to Bouchard, who pulled out of the 2015 U.S. Open after suffering a concussion when she had an accident in the locker room. The Canadian also withdrew from Wuhan as she has not yet recovered from the injury.

Wozniacki last played in the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai, China. While trailing 7-5 2-2 in her round robin match against Svetlana Kuznetsova, the former World No. 1 retired from the match. She eventually withdrew from the event, as posted on the Twitter account of WTA Insider, and was replaced by Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.

WTA Insider Courtney Nguyen revealed that Wozniacki accidentally cut her finger with a bread knife from room service. As a result of the minor accident, Wozniacki found it difficult to hold her racquet properly. The Dane reportedly did not want to aggravate the current circumstances or injure her wrist in the long run.

Wozniacki currently ranks 17th in the world. She is 39-22 this season. Wozniacki also won her 23rd career title in Malaysia in March, beating Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru 4-6 6-2 6-1 in the final.
