Steve Rogers may finally find another new love in “Captain America: Civil War” and move on from Peggy Carter. As with the comic book story, the super soldier may instead end up with Peggy’s niece, Sharon Carter.

According to Movieweb, Emily Van Camp has signed on to reprise her role as Agent 13 in “Captain America: Civil War.” Her return to the sequel teases the possible love story between her character and Steve Rogers. Fans may remember the “Revenge” star from “Winter Soldier” as Steve Rogers’ next-door-neighbour named Kate. However, she was later revealed as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

In the comics, Agent 13 is actually Sharon Carter, the niece of Steve Rogers’ first love, Peggy Carter. However, this has yet to be established in the film. There were subtle hints of a romance developing between Agent 13 and Steve Rogers in “Winter Soldier.” Even Emily Van Camp acknowledged this during an interview with MTV News. “When we first see her, we see something in her brewing for Cap,” she said.

Whether this “relationship” will be fully revealed in “Civil War” remains unclear at this point. However, Chris Evans did admit during an interview that Captain America’s love life is something that he wants to be further explored in future films. The actor teased Cap possibly having a new love interest in the sequel.

Chris Evans revealed during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he has a lot to look forward to in “Captain America: Civil War.” These not only include Cap’s evolution as the super soldier or the character’s reconnection with his best friend Bucky a.k.a. “The Winter Soldier.” However, the actor teased that the third film would ultimately explore Cap’s love life with him having “a relationship with a woman.”

Emily Van Camp likewise shared the actor’s sentiment when asked whether fans would see more of Agent 13 and Steve Rogers’ together in “Captain America: Civil War.” “I love Sharon Carter and Captain America’s relationship within the comic books, and there are so many different versions of that. Where it’s headed, I have no idea, but I think it would be great if it gets explored,” she said.
