The fate of Hulk could be determined in “Captain America: Civil War” as recent reports claimed the green giant will battle it out with another Hulk in the film. This battle is said to be somewhat similar to the Hulkbuster fight scene in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” only much bigger.

Marvel has yet to confirm Mark Ruffalo’s return as Hulk in “Captain America: Civil War.” But based on the report from We Are Wakanda, Bruce Banner will be featured in the sequel along with another Hulk. Based on the photo shared by the site, the film will also have a red Hulk.

According to MCU Exchange, this red Hulk could be no other than General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, who will be portrayed by William Hurt. “With William Hurt's official re-entry into the MCU as General Thunderbolt Ross in Civil War and speculation of a Thunderbolts team on the horizon (Zemo, Osborn, Ross), it makes even more sense that that we could be seeing the Red Hulk soon,” writer Chris Nelson said. Introducing the red Hulk in “Captain America: Civil War” would reportedly be a good way to bring back Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, whom fans saw last in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” drifting on space inside the Quinjet.

The site further revealed that there will be a fight between the green Hulk and the red Hulk in “Captain America: Civil War.” However, this is said to be no ordinary battle as it “is supposed to rival the Hulkbuster fight from Age of Ultron.”

While this report still warrant confirmation from Marvel, Cinema Blend said it’s rather intriguing to picture out General Ross in “Captain America: Civil War” as the red Hulk. In the comics, Ross has always despised the green Hulk. According to the site, for decades Ross has been using the military resources at his disposal so he could defeat Hulk. However, a science experiment in 2008 unfortunately transformed him into the red Hulk.

However, each Hulk has their own characteristic that differentiates them from each other. Unlike the green Hulk, the Red Hulk reportedly emits more heat instead of getting stronger as he gets angrier. Per Cinema Blend the red Hulk also retains his intelligence despite being in his giant form. “Although he’s become a more heroic figure in recent years, he still finds himself at odds with everyone’s favourite green monster on occasion,” the site added.

MCU Exchange has reached out to Marvel for confirmation about Mark Ruffalo reprising his role as the green Hulk and if the rumours of a red Hulk appearing in “Captain America: Civil War” are true. It would reportedly be a drop-in surprise if indeed Ruffalo will be in the sequel as his name doesn’t appear in the official cast list.
