The characters of each “Captain America: Civil War” casts have so far been revealed except for one- that of Martin Freeman’s. However, the actor may have just revealed his role in the sequel during an appearance at Italy’s “Giffoni Experience 2015.”

The Italian Web site Badtaste.it has shared a video interview with Martin Freeman, where the actor was asked about his role in “Captain America: Civil War.” In the video, Freeman revealed some details about his character which, according to Cinema Blend, hints he may be playing as Henry Peter Gyrich.

“He works for the American government, in conjunction with the superheroes, “the actor said.

Whether Martin Freeman’s still unknown character will take sides with the good guys or the bad guys is still uncertain. The “Hobbit” star revealed that his character is “someone who is playing one game when actually he’s playing another.” He also described his character as “ambiguous” because it’s hard to determine whether he is good or bad.

According to Cinema Blend, Freeman somehow described Henry Peter Gyrich, the special government liaison to the Avengers. The character was reportedly first introduced in the 1977 Marvel comics.

After Martin Freeman was cast in “Captain America: Civil War,” several speculations were raised on which character he will likely play. The actor was linked with Marvel’s Everett K. Ross and Edward Chase. The latter, according to Comic Book Movie, was even alluded to in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” when Ulysses Klaw (Andy Serkis) was talking on the phone with someone he called “Minister.” The person on the other line is believed to be the Prime Minister of England, Edward Chase.

The site further adds that a scene in “Captain America: Civil War" will show Chase talking to the film’s main villain Baron Zemo. This scene will put the character under the villain category in the sequel, contrary to what Martin Freeman said about his character not being certain which side he is on.

Mark Millar, writer of the comic book storyline for “Captain America: Civil War,” told RadioTimes.com that he already knows which character Martin Freeman will portray. However, he did not reveal any details except the fact that the actor will not be in costume.
