It’s believed that Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as the Green Hulk in “Captain America: Civil War” and that he will have a battle scene with the Red Hulk. However, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige thinks otherwise.

In an interview with io9.com, Kevin Feige confirmed that Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will not be in “Captain America: Civil War.” “[Hulk] is not a primary part of Civil War,” he said. “He may not be a part at all,” Feige added.

Considering his statements, Comic Book Movie claimed it’s safe to assume that the Red Hulk will also not be in the sequel. MCU Exchange previously speculated a Red Hulk will be featured especially after William Hurt was cast in the film. “With William Hurt's official re-entry into the MCU as General Thunderbolt Ross in Civil War and speculation of a Thunderbolts team on the horizon (Zemo, Osborn, Ross), it makes even more sense that that we could be seeing the Red Hulk soon,” writer Chris Nelson said.

The site further claimed that “Captain America: Civil War” will even feature a fight scene between Mark Ruffalo’s Green Hulk and William Hurt’s Red Hulk. This is said to be another epic battle as it will reportedly rival the Hulkbuster fight scene in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

William Hurt had also teased a “different” General Thunderbolt Ross in “Captain America: Civil War.” He told IGN during an interview that fans will see a modernised version of his character in the sequel. “What they've done is they've taken a character who was the Ross from the older film and made a new version,” he revealed. However, the actor didn’t give a hint whether Ross will turn into the Red Hulk in the sequel.

It’s still interesting to picture out the Red Hulk’s battle with the Green Hulk despite Kevin Feige’s confirmation that the angry giant(s) will not be in “Captain America: Civil War.” In the comics, General Thunderbolt Ross has always despised Bruce Banner’s alter-ego. Per Cinema Blend, the general is someone who would go to great lengths, even using the military resources at his disposal, just to defeat the Green Hulk.
