Frank Grillo, who reprises his role as Brock Rumlow a.k.a. Crossbones in “Captain America: Civil War,” has shared some details about his villain character’s costume. Grillo also talked about Crossbones’ burnt face, the tragic aftermath from his fight with Cap in “Winter Soldier.”

Frank talked about the secrecy involved with Crossbones’ costume during an interview with Collider. The actor remembered having seven different fittings and recalled being amazed when he tried on Crossbones’ helmet for the first time.

“They came in with briefcases and I was like, ‘Really?! For a helmet?!’ And then, when I went in my trailer and saw it and put it on, it changed my whole DNA,” Grillo told Collider.

Screenrant shared a photo of Grillo taken from the set of “Captain America: Civil War” in Atlanta. The actor is photographed dressed in full character costume consisting of heavy military armour and Crossbones’ helmet. A white letter “X” is marked on the helmet and on his chest. He was also photographed doing a fight scene with Captain America wearing some kind of mechanic gauntlet.

In the Marvel comic universe, Crossbones rarely makes an appearance without his helmet on. However, Grillo confirmed that Brock Rumlow in “Captain America: Civil War” will also have some scenes where he takes off his helmet to reveal his facial scars. Talking about the scars, Frank tells Comic Book Movie that Crossbones’ scars are not totally healed when fans see them on film.

“The scars are terribly bad but the helmet comes off and you get to see that,” the actor said.

Grillo also tells Collider that “Captain America: Civil War” will not delve into the details of Crossbones’ personality. This is reportedly because of the many characters involved in the film. But Frank assured Crossbones will be different in the sequel.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly Grillo teased what viewers should expect to see from Crossbones in “Captain America: Civil War.” He said Brock Rumlow will have already evolved since he will be fiercer. The sequel will reportedly show a tougher Crossbones since this time there will be no rules or limits for him when it comes to defeating his enemies.
