Capcom recently announced that they are going to produce a remake of one of their classic games, which will be known as “Resident Evil 2.” Numerous fans have reportedly requested Capcom for a remake of the second entry in the "Resident Evil" series after a video of a fan project named “Resident Evil 2 Reborn” circulated online.

According to a report by IGN, Capcom has officially called for the cancellation of the "Resident Evil 2" remake. The developers behind the remake, Invader Games, took to Facebook yesterday to announce that although Capcom has requested them to cancel the remake, the company invited Invader Games to a meeting where they’ll discuss ideas for the game.

Invader Games said that they are honoured to have been officially invited by the company behind the popular series. Invader Games wrote, "Capcom called us up in advance of the announcement and asked us if we would mind stopping the project as they had longer term plans for a 'Resident Evil 2' remake. They have invited us to a meeting to discuss further ideas."

It is currently not clear what Capcom plans on doing with Invader Games. However, there is reportedly a possibility that the indie developer could be hired to work on the official “Resident Evil 2" remake alongside Capcom.

Invader Games reportedly said that the opportunity presented by Capcom is the biggest professional chance they could get as developers. Aside from expressing their joy at the presented opportunity, Invader Games was also happy that it was partly through their efforts that Capcom is finally remaking “Resident Evil 2.”

“Resident Evil 2 Reborn” was made popular last month through a gameplay trailer seen below. The video shows off Leon S. Kennedy sporting his old R.P.D. uniform, roaming what seems like nighttime Raccoon City as seen in the original game’s opening moments. The remake was done using Unreal Engine 4, and every aspect of the game was in high-def. Unlike the original game, the fan-made remake took an over-the-shoulder approach similar to "Resident Evil 4."
