The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs fortified their place in the National Rugby League (NRL) finals with a resounding victory after thrashing the Wests Tigers 30-10 on Aug. 21. It was the Bulldogs' second win in one week and the Tigers' fifth consecutive loss at ANZ Stadium.

Speaking to the media following the match, coach Des Hasler said that the team did better during the first half. The match was at 24-0 at the break, but the Tigers critically improved in the second half, scoring two tries to avoid getting stumped further.

"The disappointing part was probably the end, a 12-point turnaround," Hasler said. "We should've scored six at the other end, but we kicked in-field and six tackles later they put the ball down over our tryline," Hasler added.

A good game plan is one that gets you to the finish line and according to team's captain and skipper Michael Ennis, they went away from the game plan and losing shape in the second half. Ennis said that the team struggled to preserve concentration. Nonetheless, Ennis was pleased with their performance before the break.

"One area I was pleased with was our first half start, in terms of the way we stuck to our processes and what we needed to do," Ennis said.

"But as Des said, in the second half, neither side really played any stable football."
