Cannibal Mum Tries To Eat Own Baby After Giving Birth, Photos Show Bite Marks On Newborn’s Arm

A shocking story of a mother accused of cannibalism made headlines in China. The mother, dubbed as cannibal mum, was allegedly found by medics trying to eat her own baby.

The cannibal mum has been identified as 24-year old Li Zhenghua from Shenzhen, southern China. According to Metro UK, a nurse, identified as Liu Tianlun, reportedly sounded the alarm the moment she saw Zhenghua's teeth clamped on the baby's arm. She even tried to pull the baby free from the mother's clamp but to no avail. According to Mirror UK, doctors were forced to sedate the mother.

A hospital spokesperson said the doctor injected something that eventually loosened the mother's jaw. Once her teeth were safely away from the baby's arm that's when doctors took the newborn and moved him "to a secure location." The spokesperson recalled the cannibalistic incident as "really shocking" and claimed the baby's arm "was badly damaged and suffered not only heavy bruising but bleeding as a result of the bite." The horrifying wounds and bite marks the newborn had to endure from his mother are clearly revealed from the photo Mirror UK shared.

Not much is known about the mental history of the mother. However, according to reports, she has been surviving on the streets for several weeks and possibly even longer. According to investigations, despite being pregnant she was thrown out on the streets by her mother-in-law after she started showing signs of odd behaviour. It's believed the in-law didn't even bother to inform Zhenghua's family that she was pregnant and needed help. She was supposedly seen on the verge of giving birth on the streets thus was taken to a hospital in the southern part of China's Guangdong province.

According to Mirror UK, after giving birth she was placed in a ward to nurse her baby while hospital staff made attempts to contact her family. It was reportedly on her third day's stay at the hospital in China that the mother went cannibal on her newborn. Hospital staff are still debating whether to return the baby to her mother following the shocking incident. Meanwhile, authorities are allegedly also still looking into the case.
