As Eva Longoria made headlines with now much talked about pantyless, wardrobe malfunctions at the 2013, the other side of the 66th Film Festival in France saw the members of the Australian film industry rubbing elbows with their counterparts in many parts of the worlds.

The Screen Australia has put up a temporary office directly accross the road, a stone’s throw away from the non-stop glittering of lights at the film’s biggest event of the year, the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. And a banner overlooking the hustle and bustle accross the street, with text, “Australia” printed on it, just helped Aussies mark a place in the high-profile film event - - made possible by officials and members of the recognized film group.

Cited by The Cairns, the Australian Associated Press said that the staff of the Australian delegates (to the festival) are doing the leg works, and very efficiently at that, as they provide assistance to the Australian film honchos in promoting their films to the international distributors and companies seen as their potential financing arms.

As Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban caught some real attention when they got loved up at Cannes 2013, film producers are making their way to the doors of these big film companies to ensure that they have good news to bring home as the festival ends on May 26, 2013.

Only one short, eight-minute film by Rodd Rathjen called ‘Tau Seru’ has made it to the list of films that will be featured in the film festival. But there are about 30 Australian films now trying to make some noise and “having their presence felt” in the festival in France. And 30 films mean a lot of hard work from everyone involved in each of these production.

"Of course Cannes is the most important festival in the world but it is also the most important film market in the world," the head of marketing of Screen Australia Kathleen Drumm said, according to The Cairns.

She added, “It means there's an opportunity here for Australian producers and Australian films to get some profile with key people - the key acquisitions executives, festival directors, financiers and others."

The Cairns also noted that the hard work has been paying off, based on the strong indications and positive, earlier, feedback that came with the announcement last Friday: one of these films, The Rocket, has found an American distributor, Kino Lorber for its north American release. Good news!

And that’s not all. Despite Robert Pattinson’s failure to attend the Cannes 2013 (contrary to earlier reports) his latest film, The Rover he stars with Guy Pearce and directed by David Michod, has been getting attention too, according to the Screen Australia. Nicole Kidman’s The Railway Man with Colin Firth and Wolf Creek 2 are also gaining much needed attention at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
