The Floriade 2015 flower festival which showcases one million floral blooms, has a plethora of events scheduled for September. It includes a photography workshop and free adult’s and kid’s fitness sessions by health expert Lee Campbell. The 28th edition of Floriade kicked off on Sept. 12 and will continue until Oct. 11. Approximately 400,000 local, interstate and international visitors are expected to attend this month-long event. Visitors can also enjoy the view of beautiful Lake Burley Griffin at the Commonwealth Park in Canberra while attending the festival.

Canberra's Commonwealth Park will witness extensive displays of flowering bulbs with integrated sculptures during the Floriade fest. The annual flower show, inaugurated in 1988, gives expression to public art by means of the works that are presented in the Floriade gardens. Horti-Couture and Gnome Knoll painting and sales are also an integral part of the events that are organised each year.

The Gnome Knoll painting and sales aims to collect funds which are used for various community projects carried out by the Rotary Club of Canberra East. Contestants may submit their entries until Monday, Oct. 5. Judges will determine who deserves to be called the winner on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Awards will be given on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 10:30 am. The Horti-couture Prize Ceremony is another colourful event at Floriade. It was held on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Inspiration hub.

The first week of Floriade (Sept. 12-20) was dedicated to several topics, including food, art, culture, music and fashion. The floral fashion design competition and Horti-Couture caught the fantasy of those present at the Commonwealth Park. The event also included the Inspiration Hub which was marked by the presence of prominent members from Australian media, including some of the most reputable newspaper columnists and radio hosts. Author Peter FitzSimons was also present at the venue on Sunday.

NightFest 2015 at Floriade is another key highlight of Floriade. It is comprised of great live music acts, shows by renowned comedians, cutting edge DJs and night markets. It ran from Sept. 23-27. Click here to visit the official website of Floriade 2015.
