Transgender actress Laverne Cox and reality star Caitlyn Jenner have finally met face-to-face. The two met on Monday when Cox came as one of the guests during the special private screening of Jenner’s upcoming documentary “I Am Cait.”

According to a report by E! News, Jenner and the “Orange is the New Black” star were in constant communication before Jenner publicly announced her transition. Cox said that Jenner consulted her before the much publicised transition was made public back in April.

After months of voicing out their desire to meet each other in person, the meeting finally took place during the intimate screening. Cox documented the occasion and posted a photo of herself and Jenner on her Instagram page. “@caitlynjenner and I finally met in person at a special private advance screening of #IAmCait.#TransIsBeautiful #girlslikeus#caitlynjenner,” she said.

In another post, she shared a group shot with several other transgender women who were at the screening. Cox wore a black crop top paired with a mini skirt while Jenner opted to go casual with a white bluse and jeans. Candis Cayne, another transgender actress who has been spotted frequently with Jenner, was also at the event.

Cox has been very vocal about her admiration and support of Jenner and even wrote a blog about her Vanity Cover when it came out on June 1. “It feels like a new day, indeed, when a trans person can present her authentic self to the world for the first time and be celebrated for it so universally," she said.

“I Am Cait” is an 8-part docu-series that features Caitlyn Jenner and how she her journey towards discovering a new life as a woman. The series will premiere on Sunday, July 26 at 8:00 pm EDT on E!.
