Bryce Dallas Howard recently expressed her interest to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The “Jurassic World” star specifically said she wants to start a petition for her to play as Captain Marvel.

Bryce Dallas Howard shared her interest to play as the lead star in the upcoming “Captain Marvel” movie during the recent press junket for “Jurassic World” held over the weekend. When asked by Cinema Blend’s Eric Eisenberg which movie franchise she hopes to be a part of, the actress replied, “Marvel movie.” When Eisenberg suggested the Captain Marvel role and her being a fit for the character, Howard excitedly responded with, “Yes, let’s start a campaign now.”

The actress then expressed her thoughts about the characters in the Marvel films and in the comics in general. “That’s the joy of the comics, is that you fall in love with these characters and it’s who they are that carries you from journey to journey to journey… it’s not just about set pieces,” she started.

Bryce Dallas Howard also talked about why she would love to be in a Marvel film. The actress said it’s owed to those comic book characters that Marvel gets to produce what she called as “fantastic” films. “It’s really about who these people are, and so, yes, I just would love to be in a Marvel film,” she added.

The actress was once cast for a Marvel character when she played as Gwen Stacy in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man 3” back in 2006. So landing the role as Captain Marvel wouldn’t really be Bryce Dallas Howard’s first foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It may take some time before casting announcements for “Captain Marvel” will be released. The film is not scheduled for release until Nov. 2, 2018. Rumours have previously involved Charlize Theron, Jessica Chastain, Emily Blunt and Katheryn Winnick in the title role.

According to Huffington Post, the film will be Marvel’s first female-led superhero movie. “Captain Marvel” already has its screenplay secured with writers Nicole Perlman ("Guardians of the Galaxy") and Meg LeFauve ("Inside Out"). Angelina Jolie has been rumoured to direct the film.
