Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) have brought Bruce Lee back to life as a playable video game character. EA Sports announced gamers can play Bruce Lee if they pre-order the game or unlock Bruce in Career mode.

Bruce Lee's addition to the UFC video game gained favorable responses from video game fans and MMA enthusiasts.

According to UFC President Dana White, Bruce Lee is undoubtedly the father of mixed martial arts. White believed Bruce embodied the making of a complete all-around MMA fighter.

CEO and Chairman of the Bruce Lee Foundation Shannon Lee, Bruce Lee's daughter, said she was thrilled that fans can now interact with Bruce Lee in a new way. She added the EA Sports UFC development team has done a great job in capturing her father's image in the video game.

When Brian Hayes, creative director for EA Sports, was working on including the iconic martial artist into the video game, he said "It was, like, the quickest meeting in the world," Mashable reported. The decision was a no-brainer for EA Sports' team, being honored and privileged to bring Bruce Lee back to life in the video game.

Brian Hayes and the EA team have taken to heart reanimating Bruce into the game. They have worked closely with the Bruce Lee Foundation to capture at best the legendary martial artist's overall look, feel, and techniques.

The EA team recognized that Bruce never participated in a no-holds-barred fighting sports competition. Getting ideas from people who trained with Bruce in real life, EA has created "Bruce Lee the Athlete." He has tremendous striking and multifaceted martial arts capabilities.

The Bruce Lee character will be available in four weight classes: bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight. Players can unlock them all immediately via pre-orders of the game or make it to the Hall of Fame in Career Mode at Pro difficulty. He can also be unlocked in the store.

The latest UFC video game featuring Bruce Lee will be available to the general public on June 17, playable in Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gaming consoles.
