The Nine-Nine squad is set to return next week after a four-month break. Unfortunately, the show has yet to be renewed for a new season by US network Fox along with other sitcoms like “New Girl,” which is reportedly on the rocks and could air its finale this week (see related story below). The Andy Samberg series’ executive producer, Dan Goor, says the showrunners haven’t written a potential closer for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 4.

Spoiler alert: This contains plot details about “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 4. The fourth season premiered Sept. 20. The series is available for Australian viewers to watch on SBS every Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is currently facing an uncertain future. The comedy series has yet to be renewed for a new season, just like its Fox sister shows “New Girl,” which stars Zooey Deschanel, and the Will Forte-led “The Last Man on Earth.” The detective-comedy’s co-creator Dan Goor says there will be nothing short of an uprising if the show doesn’t get punched its season 5 ticket.

“[Fans] are going to find the presidents of Fox and they are going to deface their houses,” he tells TVLine. “No, I’m kidding. Probably shouldn’t say that… I know I would riot. I would be very upset.”

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” returns next week (Tuesday in the US and Wednesday in Australia) after a long four-month intermission. Fans are certainly hoping that the squad not only comes back for another season, but a few more after that. Goor says the season 4 finale doesn’t really contain any kind of closure if the series doesn’t get renewed but he remains optimistic that Jake (Andy Samberg), Amy (Melissa Fumero), Holt (Andre Braugher), Charles (Joe Lo Truglio) and the rest of the gang will be back. There’s no word yet on Gina (Chelsea Peretti) but hopefully she survived that horrific bus incident.

“If you’re asking if we wrote a potential series finale, we did not. We do not want this to be the series finale,” Goor points out. “We’ve received a tremendous amount of support from the network, and I’m sure our pickup will be coming at any point.”

In other “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 4 news, the showrunners posted a video over the weekend announcing a new storyline for Amy. It involves Jake’s girlfriend being pregnant, but it’s not him who’s the father of the baby. Check out the video below to find out who, of all people, gets Amy pregnant.
