The Brisbane Festival is an annual international arts festival that takes place every September. It features various events filled with arts, music and dance. It also includes theatre, opera and a circus. It aims to connect audiences and artists to each other and showcase Brisbane to the rest of the world. The 2015 Brisbane Festival has major events for the public such as the Sunsuper Riverfire and the Treasury Lights which can be seen and experienced until Saturday.

The 2015 Brisbane Festival’s team includes artistic director David Berthold, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Valmay Hill, Commissioners Peter Hyland, Paul Spiro, Philip Bacon AM and program director Beck Pearce. The festival’s High Commissioner is Audi Centre Brisbane.

The festival in Brisbane has numerous venues including The Spiegeltent, South Bank, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Palace Centro, Brisbane Convention Exhibition Centre, La Boite Roundhouse and Brisbane City Hall. It will also be held in these places: Griffith Film School, Judith Wright Centre, Brisbane Powerhouse, Queensland Conservatorium, Theatre Republic, Bille Brown Studio and the Old Government House.

One of the highlights of Brisbane Festival is the Sunsuper Riverfire which will be held on Saturday at the South Bank. This exciting event features pyrotechnic at its best. The amazing fireworks display will be accompanied by several hit songs as well as classic tunes.

Aside from the fireworks and music, there will also be aerobatics from the Australian Defence Force. Plus, the audience is in for a treat with displays by helicopters and the F18 Super Hornets.

The Sunsuper Riverfire will run from 7- 7:25 pm. Below is the detailed schedule of Saturday’s displays:

  • 5:15 pm – RAAF C17 Globemaster
  • 5:30 pm – RAAF F18 Super Hornet
  • 5:50 pm – Army Aviation MRH 90 and Tiger Helicopters
  • 7:03 pm - RAAF F18 Super Hornet

The Brisbane Festival 2015 Sunsuper Riverfire is made possible with the event’s partners including South Bank, Sun Super, Channel 9, Australian Defence Force, Suez Environment, The Courier Mail and Triple M 104.5.

Another anticipated event in this year’s festival is the Treasury Lights. This free visual arts treat for the entire family is presented in partnership with the Treasury Casino & Hotel, Spinifex and the Technical Direction Company (TDC). The said building will be lit up by a team of technicians and artists. According to the Brisbane Festival’s official website, the Treasury Lights production will include strobe effects.

The other events to watch out for at the 2015 Brisbane Festival include A State of Grace: The Music of Tim and Jeff Buckley at the Concert Hall of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Flexn at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s Playhouse Theatre and Velvet at the Brisbane Powerhouse Theatre. These will be on from Friday to Saturday.
