Hollywood stars such as Kim Kardashian, Angelina Jolie and more have joined in the #BringBackOurGirls campaign rally against the government of Nigeria and its president Goodluck Jonathan.

On April 14, reportedly more than 276 secondary girls were abducted by Boko Haram militants from their school in the village of Chibok, in Borno state of Nigeria. Another eight were reportedly taken from another village earlier this week.CNN reported that Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan released a statement on the first abduction two weeks after it happened.

Last week, a video surfaced with Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, telling the media that he will sell the girls as instructed by Allah. This fuelled the fears of the families that the girls might be sold as brides or worse as slaves.

Families and teachers took to the streets to rally against their government for swift action in the search for the girls. According to EOnline, the Nigerian government has said that they are working to find all of the missing children but have been unable to do so thus far.

Nigerian First Lady Patience Jonathan, had ordered for the rallying to stop, however the number of protesters only increased as #BringBackOurGirls campaign had reached international uproar.

It's nearing three weeks since the abduction and according to NYDailyNews, the girls' disappearance has triggered an international uproar over the weakness of the Nigerian government in the search for the girls. CNN reported that US and UK have joined in the search. Hollywood stars and personalities have also joined in the #BringBackOurGirls campaign to raise awareness for the missing girls.
