A dog will do his best to love you so unconditionally that it just breaks your heart. He will curl up in bed with you, lay at your feet when you're feeling low, roll over and tell you how much fun he has when you're around. Friends, partners, neighbors, colleagues will come and go but dogs, they are for life. For as long as they're alive they will spend every moment making you feel cherished. Dogs love you like you're the best person in the world! They're always happy to see you. They're cute, cuddly and lovable. What's not to like about that?

But bringing a dog home isn't that easy. You need to understand that when a dog comes home, he will depend on you for food, shelter, care, protection, companionship, veterinary care, grooming, training and much more. It's important to know what you are committing to. You have to consider that a dog is going to stay in your life for 10-15 years from the moment you bring him in. What you should ask yourself is if you are you ready for such a commitment? Can you afford the added expense? Are other members of your family ready to accept an animal at home? Can you promise to not give up on your dog and treat him with love and affection?

When a dog enters your life, a lot of things change. You will seldom see dog owners complain about the hair their canine leaves around. That's because they get used to it and it becomes easy to ignore. A puppy will wet the floor and poop too. That is until he learns. You need to be patient and see how they are quick to develop habits you teach them. In their growing up years, dogs tend to chew up on shoes, furniture, clothes. But when they are past that phase, and if you're patient enough you will see what beautiful life-long companions they turn out to be. You can never ever think of "getting rid of the dog" like he's a piece of furniture. You need to prepare and work hard to make him your family. Every home has its own routine, limitations, behaviour, time and space constraints. If you take a good look at your situation, you can bring home a dog that will fit easily and this save you from facing any difficulty later.

It's unbelievable how much you can learn from a dog. They teach you some of the biggest lessons in life. They slowly teach you to be responsible. They bring out compassion like none other. Dogs love to play, fetch, walk and run. That way you get exercise too. No matter why it hurts, dogs comfort you. They know you want to be loved. The best lesson, however, that you learn from a dog is to love unconditionally.

Having a dog is like having a baby. But only more fun! There's never a dull moment with a dog in the house!
