An Australian national has been identified as one of the victims injured in the London attacks. The woman, who hails from South Australia, is said to be receiving treatment in the hospital. The authorities are aware of her condition, and she is being taken care of by the consular staff.

According to AAP news agency, the injured woman, whose name has yet not been revealed, is believed to be from Germany but is a permanent resident of Australia. Foreign Minister Julie Bishop told ABC news that she injured her foot when a man mowed down various pedestrians on the Westminster Bridge in London attacks on Wednesday, which killed five people and injured nearly 40. The Australian woman is currently receiving treatment for her foot injury, news.com.au reports.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has assured the nation that the safety of citizens is the utmost priority. “Australians should be reassured that our agencies are today as every day working relentlessly and tirelessly to keep our people safe,” Turnbull said in Parliament.

“We are very alert to the vulnerabilities of places of mass gathering and open spaces and the risk of relatively unsophisticated attacks, like that perpetrated in London. Keeping Australians safe is our highest priority. It is our most solemn, our supreme obligation,” he added.
