Robin Krasniqi defeated Dariusz Sek in a light heavyweight match-up at the Ballhaus Forum in Munich, Bayern, Germany. The German outpointed the Polis via the scores of 116-112, 115-113 and 116-112 to net the close unanimous decision victory.

Fighting in front of his home fans, the 27 year old Krasniqi, who is from Munich, improved to 43-3-0 with 16 knockouts to win the World Boxing Organization (WBO) international light heavyweight and World Boxing Association (WBA) continental light heavyweight titles. The 28 year old Sek dropped to 21-2-0 (7 KOs). With the close win, Krasniqi also improved his chances at getting a shot at the top contenders in the light heavyweight, or 175-pound division in boxing.

Sergey Kovalev is the WBO and International Boxing Federation (IBF) light heavyweight champion while Adonis Stevenson is the World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight champ. Other contenders in the weight division are Jean Pascal, who is the No. 1 contender in the WBO rankings. Another name is southpaw Juergen Braehmer, who is also from Germany and the pair could meet in the first half of 2015.

Sek has now lost two of his last four bouts while Krasniqi has won four straight. The German’s previous three wins were against Oleksandr Cherviak via 12-round unanimous decision, Emmanuel Danso via 7th round KO and Tomas Adamek via eight-round unanimous decision. Except for a unanimous decision loss to Nathan Cleverly in 2013, Krasniqi has been undefeated since 2006.
