Another renowned boxing trainer is predicting that Floyd Mayweather Jr. will come out victorious in his super fight against Manny Pacquiao. Joel Diaz, who is credited with helping fighters like Timothy Bradley Jr. and Abner Mares to boxing titles during their career, is picking the undefeated American over the Filipino champion in their match-up in May.

Diaz stated in a recent interview that he believes that Mayweather Jr.’s weight will be a major factor in the fight against Pacquiao. For most of their careers Mayweather Jr. has been campaigning in the welterweight (147 lbs.) and super welterweight (154 lbs.) divisions while Pacquiao fights in the welterweight, super lightweight (140 lbs.) and lightweight (130 lbs.) divisions.

“That fight is all common sense. If you want my opinion, I could break that fight down for you. I think Mayweather is going to win the fight, decision. Mayweather is going to win that fight by a decision, but don’t just focus on going the distance,” Diaz shared to ontheropesboxing.com.

“The reason why I think Mayweather can hurt Manny Pacquiao is because he’ a natural welterweight. Mayweather is a natural welterweight and Pacquiao is not. Pacquiao comes from the lower weight classes and Mayweather is a solid welterweight, he is the bigger man.”

Diaz also went on to state that his experience against Pacquiao in the past has taught him a lot about the Filipino pugilist. He credited Pacquiao for being a “very explosive fighter” on top of the squared ring but that he also misses many of these punches.

Bradley Jr., under Diaz has fought Pacquiao twice with the boxers splitting their records at 1-1. Bradley Jr. defeated Pacquiao in 2012, when the American hacked out a 115-113, 115-113 and 113-115 majority decision win. Pacquiao returned the favour in 2014, when the Filipino won via a 116-112, 118-110 and 116-112 unanimous decision victory.

In the same interview, Diaz also said that his fighter, Bradley Jr. opened up the blueprint for beating Pacquiao saying that if an opponent makes Pacquiao miss the Filipino gets frustrated, which in turn makes it easier to outbox him. Diaz also added that if there’s a knockout happening in the super fight, the KO punch will be coming from Mayweather, whom Diaz described as boxer who is very accurate with his punches.

The Mayweather-Pacquiao super fight is scheduled on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
