Amir Khan confirmed that his team has been negotiating with Top Rank Promotions boss Bob Arum for a potential fight with Manny Pacquiao in the spring of 2016, once the Filipino boxing icon fully recovers from his shoulder injury. Pacquiao is currently recovering from a torn rotator cuff on his right shoulder, which he suffered in May.

Khan, who has a record of 31 wins, three losses and 19 knockouts, could be Pacquiao’s opponent in his comeback fight. The British fighter revealed that talks for a possible fight with the former eight-division titlist is “going smooth” and that contracts are already being negotiated.

"I can confirm that my team has been negotiating with Bob Arum," Khan said, World Boxing News reports. “The contracts are being negotiated, and if everything is agreed, Manny Pacquiao will be my next opponent.”

Khan also believes that if everything goes well, the fight with Pacquiao could happen in February or April next year. The Bolton welterweight added that he will rule himself out of other bouts this year if the deal for a clash with Pacquaio completes within two weeks.

"We have not gone into the specifics yet but it is a pay-per-view fight, it's going to be global,” Khan told ESPN. “It could be either on HBO or any other network, as I am a free agent."

Khan, Pacquiao’s former sparring partner, has been trying to lure undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. from retirement. The continuous dismissal of Pretty Boy’s camp to fight Khan has led the latter to target Pacquiao, who has a record of 56 wins, six losses and two draws. However, Khan’s mission to land a fight with “Money” is not over yet, and he reportedly believes that a win against the Filipino could get him the chance to book a match with Mayweather.

Khan has also been rumoured to a have a rematch with American boxer Danny Garcia, who stopped the British fighter via technical knockout in the fourth round of their 2012 clash. Khan has not fought since his unanimous decision victory over Chris Algieri in May, but he is on a hot streak of five straight wins since he defeated Garcia.
